Living A Blessed Life
Republished From http://www.joyintl.org
God has a plan for women in 2011. He wants us to live a blessed life! There is a blessing recorded in Numbers 6:24-26 that gives us the key to living a blessed life. This is God's idea, coming out of His loving and good heart.

Sun Bible! | Flickr | Dennis ColletteAt the beginning of the New Year, Oprah Winfrey launched her new network OWN. She is hoping that her network will encourage people to live their best lives. Is OWN really going to help me live my best life? Not really. God has a much better plan for women in 2011. Although the stories covered on OWN may be inspiring, our true inspiration for living our best lives comes from God's promises to us. And He wants us to live a blessed life!

There is a blessing recorded in Numbers 6:24-26 that gives us the key to living a blessed life. God gave the blessing to Moses for the priests to bless the people. One thing I love about this blessing is that it is God's idea, coming out of His loving and good heart. He really does want to bless His people. It still applies to us today as New Testament believers.

The Lord bless you and keep you
The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you
The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace

So, what do each of these phrases mean?

"The Lord bless you and keep you" is a request for God's blessing , favor, and protection from evil.

"The Lord make his face shine upon you" is a request for the presence of God.

"And be gracious to you" is a request for God's grace to forgive and pardon our sin.

"The Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace" is a request for God's attention and "shalom," a word for completeness, consisting of contentment, well-being, health, security, and friendship.

Nancy DeMoss in speaking about this blessing in Numbers 6 says, "No matter what's going on, you have the promise of God's blessing, His presence, His favor, His face, His attention, His name, His keeping power, His gracious dealings with us, and His peace. He is the source and the means of all-all-all ultimate blessing. "

I find myself often declaring and praying this blessing for my husband, children, and friends. I am encouraged when I do this because I know God honors this blessing. Just this week I prayed for the Lord to keep a daughter and husband safe during their travels, to show favor to a daughter in her new job, to strengthen their minds as they work, to pay attention to each of their needs, to be gracious to forgive them, and to impart His "shalom."

I say this blessing over you, my JOY friends, and I ask that you then say it and pray it for your own family and friends. We indeed can live a blessed life in 2011!

Who can you pray this blessing over today?
