Since the Father has such a giving heart, He expects His sons and daughters to behave likewise and reveals an eternal principle that is at odds with the selfish thinking of the world. God tells us, in effect, to feed others so that we can be fat and to give drink to others so that our thirst can be quenched.
Gone were 20 years of human hopes, desires and plans. Perhaps a future in construction. Or law enforcement. Or a shot at politics. It all changed when God let me see His heart for people. The pull for reputation and riches was replaced by “Here am I, Lord. Send me.”
We should never understimate the importance or the power of "showing up" and being there for others when they are confronted with challenges in their lives. The "ministry of presence" is exemplified in Christ's incarnation in a breath-taking way.
When all is gone, when we are walking in the valley of the shadow of death, we still have the most important, wonderful, One of all, to be thankful for - God!
If we would please God, we must give, because God’s nature is to give. Where is your treasure being stored up?
